Alkene
  1. Excess O2
    1. CO2(g) + H2O (l)
      1. Complete Combustion
      2. Limited O2
        1. CO(g) + H2O(l)
          1. Incomplete Combustion
          2. H2(g) / Nickel Catalyst
            1. The double bond is broken.
              1. Eg: CH3CH=CH2(l) + H2(g) ------> CH3CH2CH3(g)
              2. Hydrogenation
              3. Eg: CH3CH=CH2
                1. Halogen
                  1. Naming goes with "ation" at the end of halogen.
                    1. Eg: Bromination (For the example above)
                    2. Adds 2 halogen atoms removing the C=C bond.
                      1. Eg: CH3CH=CH2 + Br2 -------> CH3CHBrCH2Br
                    3. H20(l) and CONC: {H3PO4} with HEAT
                      1. Hydration
                        1. Removes the double bond and adds an OH instead
                          1. Eg: CH3CH=CH2 + H20(l) ------> CH3CH(OH)CH3
                        2. HBr(l)
                          1. Eg: CH3CH=CH2 + HBr -------> CH3CHBrCH3

                            Annotations:

                            • Note that HBr breaks down to H+ and Br- . The H+ always goes to the atom with higher H atoms of the double bond pair. EG: CH=CH2 The CH2 has more H atoms :)
                            1. Adds a Br and H atom by removing the C=C bond
