Finding a quantity if the percentage is known
If a percentage of a quantity is known, to find the quantity we first find the 1% (or 10%) and then we multiply it to find the 100%.
In one-day cricket match Ricky Ponting, Australia's capitian, scored 102 runs, If this was 34% of the team's runs, what did the team scored
34% of the runs = 102 1% of the runs = 102 ÷ 34 =3
100% of the runs = 3 x 100 = 300
The Australian team scored 300 runs
