Rockets & Satellites
Rockets Lift Off?
The force generated to lift a rocket/shuttle in space requires a great amount of force, and it uses the third law of motion
As they lift off, they burn fuel and push the exhaust gases downward at a high velocity
The gases then push upward on the rocket with an equal but opposite force
A rocket can rise into the air because the gases it expels with a downward action force exert an equal but opposite reaction force on the rocket
Satellites
Any object that orbits another object in space
Circular Motion
Centripetal Force
Any force that causes an object to move in a circular path
Artificial Satellites
Artificial Satellites are launched my people so that there can be things such as weather forecasts, text messaging or anything like that
Satellite Motion
Why don't satellites fall to the Earth because of Gravity?
Satellite's have a greater horizontal velocity than a ball would have, satellites all around earth
Satellites in orbit around Earth continuously fall toward Earth, but because Earth is curved they travel around it
