Christian attitudes to abortion.
Protestant
Life doesn't begin at conception.
Abortion may be the most loving thing to do and Jesus teaches us to love each other.
The sanctity of life can be broken in a just war so why not in a just abortion.
If abortion is made illegal poor women may get dangerous backstreet abortions and rich women will just go abroad.
They should accept new technology that could show if a baby is seriously disabled and therefore would not have a good quality of life if kept alive.
Catholic / Evangelical
Life is holy and only belongs to God.
The Ten Commandments says that taking a life is against the laws of God.
Putting a baby up for adoption is a better alternative than having an abortion.
Every person has a right to life.
In the case of rape: one sinful act should not provoke another (having an abortion)
Life begins at the moment of conception.
DOUBLE EFFECT It is not abortion if, in saving the mother, the baby dies however the aim was not to kill the foetus.
