  1. Definition: adds meaning to, or modifies verbs, adjectives and other adverbs
    1. For example, "I ran quickly" ran would be the verb and quickly would be the adverb as it adds meaning to how I ran
    2. Adverbs of manner
      1. Tells you how something is done
        1. For example, "I walked SLOWLY"
      2. Adverbs of time
        1. Tells you when something is done
          1. For example, "I ran YESTERDAY"
        2. Adverbs of place
          1. Tells you where something is done
            1. For example, "I ran THERE"
          2. Adverbs of reason
            1. Tells you why something is done
              1. For example, "THEREFORE I argue..."
            2. Interrogative
              1. An adverb that asks questions
                1. For example, "WHEN did you get here?" "HOW are you?" "WHERE did she come from?" "WHY are you laughing?"
              2. Negative
                1. Adverbs that makes a sentence negative
                  1. For example, "I do NOT agree" "NEVER do that again"
                2. Modal
                  1. An adverb that shows the amount of probability
                    1. For example, "We will PROBABLY go to the beach" Includes yes, probably, possibly, certainly, definitely
                  2. Numerical
                    1. Refers to how often something took place
                      1. For example, "He called her TWICE"
                    2. Adverbs of degree
                      1. Tells us to what extent something happens
                        1. For example, "the train ALMOST crashed" "the plane flew EXTREMELY fast"
                      2. With the "ly" ending
                        1. Many adverbs end in "ly" including hardly and nearly but it's important not to get these mixed up with adjectives such as kindly and early
