Question Answer
Are there forces at work in almost every situation? Yes.
What happens if an object is still, in terms of energy? No energy is transferred.
When is energy transferred? When an object moves in the same direction as a force that is pushing or pulling the object.
A woman moves a suitcase. There is energy transferred from the woman to the suitcase. There is work .... ... done by the woman. The harder she pulls, the further she moves, the more energy she transfers.
What is work done the equivalent of? Energy transferred.
What equation links work done/energy transferred, force and distance? W = F x d W=work done or energy transferred (J) F=force applied (N) d=distance travelled (m)
