Describe what happens for each point in the fetch, decode, execute cycle. Fetch- The processor fetches the instruction from the memory Decode- The instruction is decoded Execute- Processor executes that instruction
What is the purpose of the CPU? To control all the other parts of the computer and process data which it does by the fetch, decode, execute cycle.
What is clock speed? A rate at which instructions are carried out.
What is clock speed measured in? Hz
What does 1GHz mean? One billion instructions are carried out per second.
What does the term core refer to? The amount of CPU'S in a computer.
What does the amount of cores effect? How fast a computer can execute an instruction.
What is cache? A memory that sits between the CPU and main memory that acts as a buffer and temporarily stores instructions from the main memory.
