Why are there more lone-parent families?
Less marriage and more cohabitation means less
commitment to relationships and more relationships
end
Increase in divorce rates and divorce is much more
accepted
More financial independence for women,
so they're less likely to stay in unhappy
relationships
Child tax credit means lone-parents
have financial assistance
Sex outside marriage & one night
stands are more common
More acceptable to have fertility treatments
and to foster/adopt if you are single
