EDUCATION WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1870
Urbanization: cities and towns grew e.g. Newcastle, Hull and Birmingham.
ADVANTAGES
- teaches basic skills needed
-life skills/qualifications
-social skills improve
-life long process preparing people for a career
-children learn societies values
-equal opportunity to get an education
-successful futures
PERSPECTIVES
- Functionalist (positive)
-Marxist (negative)
why are shared values important?
- without them society would be dysfunctional
-chaos and violence would break out
-children would not be socialized properly (wouldn't know right/wrong)
