    Why is Mt. Everest famous? It is because it is the tallest mountain in the world.   It is unique for this reason.

    The way we described Mt. Everest is important. We used the adjective the tallest.   This is called the superlative and it has two important parts. 1. THE 2. TALLEST (adjective + est)   TALL is a short adjective so we add -est to the end.

    Practice the superlative
    Try these flash cards. Think about the examples we saw with Mt. Everest and the Mona Lisa.  short adjectives = the + adjective(est) long adjectives = the + most + adjective   Pay special attention to the adjectives with a star(*). They have special spelling rules because they end in 'Y' or they are irregular.
