Bonfire Night

Some people remember Guy Fawkes, who tried to kill the king by blowing up the Houses of Parliament in 1606 in London.

A "guy" is burnt on top of a big bonfire and there are fireworks. People eat toffee apples and parkin.

Children prepare the "guy" and take it round the streets asking for burners to make fireworks

Children sing: "Build a bonfire Build a bonfire Put the teachers on the top Put the headmaster in the middle And burn the rotten lot!"
